The only call to action that I see is not from the Nobel Peace Prize Committee to President Obama but from President Obama to the international community.

It is this call to unconditional negotiation, disarmament, multilateral diplomacy, dialogue and negotiations as preferred instruments for even the most difficult of international conflicts with emphasis on the role of the United nation and other international institutions, etc. that is being rewarded. The Committee did not say he promised to create a new climate in international politics but that he has created it. As Alan from New Zealand who called in while in New York with the International Peace Bureau said, President Obama has already started the ball moving.

By being humble, President Obama has fed into the tendency of the American people to not notice what he has actually done ... only the absence of what they are still waiting for.
