That guest, Jay Kriegl, is the worst guest I have ever heard on your show. Bitter, jealous(?) and unnecessarily re-hashing (to himself!) how great the NY 1012 bid was... is he worried about his reputation as a failure?Totally unable to get over it and answer simple questions regarding the Chicago bid... Hardly the generous Olympic spirit that the games are supposed to reflect.
why was he so angry?
I think Rio de Janeiro has it in the bag.
I agree with the caller Mandy about Obama's Chicago Speach...I like him as a president but I groaned when I heard him speach.
Would be more exciting if Rio got the Olypics.
There is also a lot of deprivation in Chicago. SA has not corner the market on poverty, there is a a lot of poverty in this country. I think Chicago should get it, it's bound to facilitate change in that city.
Your guest is overstating the interest by New Yorkers in the games in NYC. The initiative or "propaganda" was all Corporate driven here by then Deputy Mayor, now CEO of Bloomberg LLP.
New Yorkers didn't want the games, Bloomberg and politicians wanted them. Just like Vancouver, where I just was, the people don't want them, the government does.
The games would have been horrendous for anyone who lives in New York.
Rio's gonna get it. I think the first Games in South America is very appealing to the Olympics committee. Plus the World thinks US gets enough, even when we are constantly passed over for these types of events.
I'm happy we didn't get it and hope we never do. It should have gone to San Francisco. I hope Chicago doesn't get it. Watch Democracy Now and see why having the Olympics in any city is not worth the trouble. The greed and corruption surpasses mafia greed and corruption and supposedly the Olympics is a legitimate organization, lol. The mafia could learn from them!
i was SO glad we did not get the games. what a nightmare that would have been!
