Online Odes: Thuuuuhhhhh.....Yankeeeesss Win!
Thursday, November 05, 2009
The Bronx Bombers won their 27th world series last night, and it's time to celebrate with an Ode to the Yankees Acronym Contest. Post your acronym that spells out "Yanks," "Matsui," or some other Yankees-related word below!

It's ACRONYNM. Brian corrected himself on his Facebook page.

And of course we mean "acronym" not anagram. Write an ode that spellsl out Yanks our Matsui..."

Sorry for the confusion folks. We mistyped "anagram" at first, but were thinking "acronym." But really, it's all about posting your ode, in whatever form you'd like!

Is this an acronym contest, or an anagram contest?
It says acronym on the webpage, but I believe Brain said anagram on the air.

Evidently, I'm confused -- is the contest for ACRONYMS or ANAGRAMS (which is what Brian has been saying all morning)?

Congratulations, Yankees!!
The Yankees exemplify a great business model. They have money to spend to make their product better, and they do.
Everyone who hates on the Yankees is absolutely misguided. If you're uncomfortable with baseball not having a salary cap, then blame all of professional baseball. The Yankees would be a horrible organization if they made so much money and didn't do everything they could with it to make their fans happy.
Posada, Jeter, Pettite and Mariano all were integral parts of the Yankees 5 rings.. and they were all Yankees from the start. I hope Gardner, Cabrera, Chamberlain, Cano and the others are just as lucky.
People are taking this WAY too seriously.
"The Yankees expemplify some of the worst traits of human nature"??? It's a baseball team with a lot of fans that give them money by attending the games, and a lot of sponsors who are willing to pay the higher advertisement rates since it reaches a larger customer base. If you have the money, why not hire the best players money can buy?
Yankees parade = lost worker productivity?? Ironically from a post timed 10:07 a.m. (assuming the poster has a 9-5 job). It's a parade for the 2009 World Series Champions. It would happen for any team, Yankees or not. Why shouldn't the Yankees get theirs? On that line of reasoning, I suppose coffee breaks should be abolished since cumulatively they take up way more time away from worker productivity throughout the course of 9 years than a lousy World Series parade.
If you hate the Yankees, fine. Just stop making these BS whiny arguments that are way off base.

Oops, I deleted the S line. Sorry Matsui!
It should read:
May the cash spent return, and
All the sacrifice pay off.
Trust our economy will not
Sink and
Undo the dips in the trough.
In the now, celebrate the win!
Not much better, I know, blame the sleepless three month old.
YANKEES WON! =
OY! WINSANE! K?
Wow, such ire. If people didn't want to pay to see them play, the money wouldn't be there. This win will be bringing plenty of cash to various businesses around the city.
Here are my two favorite players:
Perhaps the don't deserve
Our heartfelt praise, but despite
Sour grapes, baseball still pays.
Another win, twice in ten years,
Dunking a new stadium, still
Awash in a lost park's tears.
May the cash spent return, and
All the sacrifice pay off.
Trust our economy will
Undo the dips in the trough.
In the now, celebrate the win!
Yeah Jay from Norwalk...lighten up people!!!
Stop Hating!!! Please!!!
Yes the Yanks have tons of cash. Are they greedy, yes but so is MLB. They are in a market the supports that kind of spending. Any other team in MLB would do the same and does the same!!!As a fan who has waited 9 years for this win, it was money well spent.
weird... the yankees winning is kind of like the mayor's victory the other day... spend enough money (yankees over $1 BILLION since their last championship to bloomberg's $100 million campaign) and you can barely win too!

In response to seth: Are you referring to the Yankees or Mayor Bloomberg?
I've stopped watching MLB because they have no salary cap. And I'm a fan of a big market team, but not the Yankees.
doddle: baseball is a doddle.
How much worker productivity time is lost from employees skipping work and attending tomorrow's parade? How much school aid does the city lose from students skipping class (absentee = no $)? How much are the Yankees putting up against the costs of extra police, sanitation, etc for the parade, or is it all on the backs of the taxpayers?
money
The Yankees exemplify some of the worst traits of human nature: greed is good, might makes right, I've got mine so the heck with you.
