#9: Depends who you're speaking of. The Hispanics who own Goya are very affluent.
#11: No, California was California. It was a colony under the Spanish Empire, as Mexico was. Later, California and Mexico broke away from Spain. About 20 years after that, California broke away from Mexico.
and New York belonged to the Indians, what is the point?
H1N1 MAY HAVE STARTED IN THE U.S.
I am reading on the internet that cases in the United States of humans infected with swine flu go back to at least 1976 when some soldiers in Fort Dix in New Jersey were infected and include a pregnant woman in 1988 and a 17 year old boy from Sheboygan, Wisconsin who came down with with flu symptoms in 2005 ... 3 days after helping to butcher pigs. (There was, also a live chicken in the home.) This 2005 case was similar but not exactly the same strain as the current strain ... the main difference there was an animal to human transmission. Supposedly, there has been one case every one or two years and then, between December 2005 and Feb. 2009, there were 12!! Is it possible that the H1N1 virus, ironic as it may be given the described hostility to Mexicans by some New Yorkers, started here and went to Mexico?? Is it possible that Mexicans have less immunity against it?? It seems to me that this AMERICAN virus has been evolving into something increasingly nasty and our neighbors in Mexico just don't fight it off as well as we do when we gift them with it.
California used to be Mexico
I hear ya #8, but I think what was worse was the fact the folks in the court room broke into applause for getting off from actually doing that to a human being.
I am a grad educated Hispanic woman, 7 years in NY from California. There is a major difference between the way hispanic people are treated here. The demographics work against hispanics here, they are more working class and less middle and affluent populations. The opportunities to succeed, in this area while tauted are not true for ALL populations. The power curve is very much commandeered by the power elite, who are white, sequested in their homes/neighborhoods, with not much contact--except in a boss/subordinate, homeowner- maid, nanny, gardener etc role. It is a perception problem. we are not ALL in these roles....
Hey, how about we leave the talk about brains and murder to fox news, wtf do I have to hear about brutally violent things first thing in the morning for. Good Lord, shut up lady.
Comments like that..."they didn't know I was mexican because I have blue eyes" No not by the blue eyes but your accent is a dead give away! Be proud of it.
So many are here illegally and receiving government assistance. That will cause some resentment, yeah a tiny bit..,
First, congrats on initiating the Green space.
Second, I've been watching the videostream. Lots of fun. Unfortunately there is not enough light for the video cameras. I know the Greene space wasn't meant to be a tv studio, but I think you need to invest in better lighting if you are serious about producing video.
It is interesting that no one discusses the fact that much of the resentment directed against Mexicans is due to the fact that so many are here illegally.
Why do Mexicans come here?! Gee whiz, is this for real?!!! They come here for the same reason EVERY OTHER IMMIGRANT GROUP does! Oh brother.
I didn't know people were only allowed to live in the same climate as their country of origin.
C'mon, Brian.
Did she just say she had to teach them to be prepard to defend their white side? maybe I misheard. anyone?
The kids from St Francis Prep supposedly got it in Cancun. was there any cases of swine flu in Cancun?
Brian has a point. some of the facts dont add up.
