ref: "You have a obviously self-indulgent, drug-addled man who makes money by belligerently playing on and playing up the irrational fears of his audience and of himself (apparently there is a buck to be made by referring to liberalism as a mental illness, and of playing up one's own fears of being sexually dominated by another man, a black man or by women. The fears of a insecure little boy writ large?), regularly race-baits and by wishing the President to fail, implicitly seeks to consign millions of his fellow citizens to unemployment and possible homelessness, once again for his personal political gain."
that's why i listen to Brian's show instead :-)
wedged into his countless plugs for his book, your guest claimed that the use of "paranoid" in its title is NOT a "pejorative".
more substantively, he also claimed that the USSR wouldn't have collapsed if then-President Reagan hadn't chatted with Gorbachev. really?
Reagan's essential message was that he could restore America to what it (supposedly) once was. President Obama's promise is to change America into the best that it potentially can be (in his view and that of his supporters).
other than their sharing matinee-idol looks (though for two largely different audiences), i see no similarity between the adulation for the one and that for the other.
your guest doesn't get high marks for candor or insight, in my view.
I've gotten used to some often quite confused reasoning coming from the Conservative Claque, but I bridled some at hearing Mr. Towery say that Rush Limbaugh was not (and I think I am quoting) a 'bad person.'
I admit it. I'm left wondering what you have to do in this life to be a bad person. Clearly there's a bias in the judgement. You have a obviously self-indulgent, drug-addled man who makes money by belligerently playing on and playing up the irrational fears of his audience and of himself (apparently there is a buck to be made by referring to liberalism as a mental illness, and of playing up one's own fears of being sexually dominated by another man, a black man or by women. The fears of a insecure little boy writ large?), regularly race-baits and by wishing the President to fail, implicitly seeks to consign millions of his fellow citizens to unemployment and possible homelessness, once again for his personal political gain.
I'm left wondering here. What the hell is a 'bad person' if that's not a bad person?
I was wondering also, now that this belligerent clown has doned the Black Shirt of his mentor, can we just get to the point refer to him as "Our Mussolini."
After all, Benito M. started out in the media also. Though I think his drugs of choice were stimulants.
Bring back the old -- AUTHENTIC -- Times Square! I do rememember how bad it was, and I still prefer it without reservation to the Disneyfied mall it has become.
At least the old Times Square had potential; the new version can't ever be rehabilitated to anything that is uniquely NY.
#* - Mary, there is NO entertainment value in that, just hatred, that is my point.
My brother mutilated my Barbie. He took a mini toy motorcycle, made it skid over Barbie's head and left behind a tire mark on her face. I appreciate it now, in retrospect.
I, however, gave my Barbie a nice bob and some blue hair. It looked great. I also tried to make her flats--but that didn't work out.
Please, Ronnie Ray-Gun was a disaster for America and the world. He was just a B movie actor saying his lines provided by his handlers who were the real power. The fact that the USSR collapsed on his watch seems to to be all the Right can remember about his awful 8 years in office - 3 of which he was probably suffering from the effects of the mental disease that took his life.
What is the entertainment value of hoping for the failure of the president of the United States?
And for #6 and myself, could he possibly answer the question without mentioning his book?
Interesting...he just called limbaugh an "entertainer" let's see if he gets the same flack as steele.
Would Ronald Reagan approved of a large stimulus package?
Uh, pardon me, but didn't Reagan preside over the largest US federal deficit in history (until then)?
Why is this even posed as a hypothetical?
Ronald Reagan dropped to bombs "next to" Qaddafi's tent (an act of war) and managed the great triumph of killing one of Qaddafi's young daughter.
A great testament to American and especially Republican bravery.
Regan was not liked previous to his presidency. Remember he won the election based upon the Iranian situation that was manipulated by the republicans (Iran Contra) and the oil embargo.
Also, Rgan had his right wing bonfides since being the governor of California in the late 60s when he called out the national guard on peaceful demonstrators.
i hope the GOP splits into those-crazy-christians-who-hate-science party and the big bussiness/no regulation party!
Talk about revisionism what about Granada!
Please ask him if he can predict who will win the NY-20 CoOngressional race this month!! D-Murphy or R-Tedisco
