Why not some form of ranked-choice voting, preferably pairwise ranking/Condorcet? As long as voters only record their first choices, the poles will always be at an advantage.

Non-partisan ship in NYC? Over the past year I have had a least a dozen or more political and historical views deleted from your comments board for not being liberal enough. Political diversity and respect starts at home. I will admit that WNYC seems to have improved its knee-jerk liberal censorship policies in recent months. I sure hope it stays that way for the sake of everyone. Part of the reason that non-partisanship is so rare is because each side is getting more and more comfortable completely dismissing the other side.
