The 15th New Yorker (at least) has died from Swine Flu. WNYC health reporter Fred Mogul updates the situation here, and Ian Lipkin, director of the Center for Infection & Immunity and professor of epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health discusses the WHO's official designation of the situation as a pandemic.

I believe that in the 1918 outbreak, the reason many healthy adults succumbed to the disease is because people with BETTER immune systems have a hyper response to the flue effects on the lungs and therefore suffer more severely from deadly pneumonia.
slowing down! last week at our local HS in Plainview, NY we had over 530 kids, plus over 30 faculty staff sick! most local doctors are not testing kids for the H1N1 flu, why is that? This makes me doubt that it is just your" regular flu"....
Yes, how many people die from regular flu in June?
