In spite of a challenging year, there are still plenty of reasons to love our great city. From Gail Collins to graffiti, New York Magazinesenior editor David Haskell, shares some of those reasons.
My favorite thing about NY this year is my new neighborhood, Inwood.
We're stuck between 2 parks (Inwood Hill & Fort Tryon), the Hudson is a few blocks to the West and the A train is a few blocks to the East…AND we're still in Manhattan!!!
Two Reasons to love New York: 1. Comedian Murray Hill -- the hardest working middle aged New Yorker in show business. He's hilarious and he's a true New York success story. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. 2. Our Hit Parade -- monthly shows at Joe's Pub featuring reinterpretations of the top ten hits of the day.
There is very little to love about NYC anymore. It's a third world country at first world prices. If you're not a banker, hipster or tourist, there isn't much reason to be here.
GAIL COLLINS - a reason to love New York???!!! See her vicious, snarky ad hominem attack on Joe Lieberman in yesterday's NYT. Wow, really clever and cute. A wannabe (lightweight) Maureen Dowd who pathetically tries to out-MoDo MoDo.
When has she ever added to the civility of this city...or to its public conversation? It's the devolution of the NYT op-ed page into a whiney high school newspaper. Thanks, Gail.

#1 Only in New York can you find people who decry the lack of civility in discourse in one paragraph and wage an attack on someone in the next.

Other Music......an actual real record store one can go to, and their selection is just extraordinary. An increasingly rare treat.
