Representative Anthony Weiner offers his take on the latest developments in health care reform, and whether progressives should give up on the bill altogether.
I have been stuck on the comment that Joe walked away from the Medicaid buy-in because Anthony and the Yale professor were enthusiastic about it. Stuck. Don't know if I remembered anything else about the conversation. Crazy.
Senator Lieberman seems showing signs of dementia and loosing logical thinking. Besides, he does not even remember what he said a month or two ago. Probably, he should undergo psychiatric evaluation the sooner the better so that he could start taking medication.
Speaking of "reneging" for 40 years the libs and the Dems struggled to pass campaign finance reform. Even a completely inexperienced legislator like Barack Hussein Obama, supported this noble notion for many years, right up until the point that it affected him.
Then, suddenly, the Dems saw the perfect opportunity to steal an election. They were facing an American hero and proponent of election reform, John McCain and knew that he, as a man of honor would stick to the liberal reform he helped to create.
So money poured in. Much of it is still untraced. Was it from al Qaeda or drug dealers or Hollywood big wigs and their evil minions, who knows?
Yet, WNYC barely covered this reneging and historic insult to American reform and Americans.
You folks are very selective in your coverage. Oh, well what I meant to say is that you folks are selective liars and propagandists and should lose your federal broadcast license.
Brian, funny that you would play Joe's comments, but not one of the many recorded pro-single payer government run national health "insurance" for all (including illegal aliens) comments by Barack Hussein Obama.
He made many comments over many years, yet not a single peep from you. You fronted his lies about “just wanting reforms, etc;” when it fact he and Weiner have a well established radical agenda that is more about taking over a segment of American society that is 1/6 of the US economy, than helping people in need.
Brian, are you the independent thoughtful journalist, you hold yourself out to be at fundraising time or are you part of a pro-Obama radical agenda propaganda machine? You claim the former, but evidence is conclusively to the latter.
As to Tony Weiner - liar, liar pants on fire! He can’t even tell the truth about his own life, let alone about the dangerous policies he’s flogging.
The Dems need to stop printing money and stop pushing radical programs like cap & trade, union card check, mainstreaming of illegal aliens, etc. that will wreck our economy and the American way of life.
We need to fix what’s broken not breaks what works for the vast majority of Americans.
if the senate bill's flaws ( which fail to remedy so many problems with health care ) carry over to a final conference "compromise" , the republicans are just waiting to say " WE TOLD YOU SO " ! we didn't vote for this mess i'm with howard dean ( though i will continue to mourn those who die every day because of this country's ridiculous insistence that health care be inextricably linked to profit )

The Senate Bill has completed the circle and is back to where is started: a Bill written by health insurance companies for health insurance companies.
It gives health insurance companies tens of millions compulsory customers and guarantees them billions of dollars in new premiums.
It has unaffordable health insurance premiums paid for by the taxpayer twice: through premiums paid for by the customer and through tens of millions of taxpayer subsidies.
As it is, it is possibly worse than no bill at all in the way that it continues, increases and codifies the concept of unaffordable health insurance premiums (paid to middlemen who are actually financial/investment companies) as a way of accessing health care.
Sen. Lieberman is Sen. from CT, the headquarters of all the Major Insurance Co. of our Nation. Why is this link never made? How would he dare to goes against all that power and MONEY?
Joementia is a preening jerk to be sure, but do not forget that he is, in large part, doing the White House's bidding. Obama might have campaigned on a public option with NO individual mandate, but the deals cut in May with PhRMA & AHIP, and the instructions given to Reid to appease Lieberman show that either by drift or design, the president is squarely on the side of the Senate bill protecting corporate profits--not needy Americans.
Howard Dean is correct, the bill doesn't make sense... all that the Dem's were fighting for is now out the window. Why should anyone support this bill. The President should veto this bill if this passes in the Senate form.
I agree with Howard Dean. The bill here is now useless. It was made up as they want along to begin with. It was not planned, but rather a hodgepodge of special interests. Overhaul can only happen all at once. How do you make health care equal for all, if you stick it piece by piece? how do you make it consistent and uniform.
Liberman has sold his sole to the insurance industry, the predominant industry in CT. I wish democrats had no chance of 60 votes, then they would NOT be prisoner to his vote. I rather see a good bill at the senate, and be blocked by the republicans and liberman, than the water down bill that is making its way through
Why not return to the more complete reform bill and simply disallow a (pro-forma) filibuster. If a senator wants to debate forever, make him or her stand. I also believe there is a procedural way around this problem. If you only needed 51 votes, you would be able to pass a reasonable bill.
I agree with hjs,. I dont want any more of my tax money going to people that dont beleive in evolution, think global warming is fake, thought Iraq was a good idea and dont want health care because they want freedom instead.?! wtf..
Lieberman is just trying to pick up Republican votes. He believes that his getting re-elected is more important than his values (whatever they might be).
