Finally, a journalist is doing real journalism work. USAID does the same all over the world. It is the same story in Haiti. They hire American firms and workers which charge ten times more (hotels, food, american salaries, family relocation, first class travel expenses, ect.)than a domestic firm would have charged. Sad, these countries normally do not have a choice. It is a deal or no deal contract.
USAID, knows that Americans do not pay attention to foreign affairs. Another point, USAID pretends to be giving foreign aid when these are actual loans.
Only when real journalist like Mr. Silverstein does the thourough investigative work for the Ameriacan readers will this type of extortion ends.

The US spends over 14 Billion per year on FOREIGN AID.The Lion's share is given to Israel,More than the whole continent of Africa,save Egypt.
US taxpayers might be surprised to know that the Israel Lobby(AIPAC)which has a staranglehold on the US Congress, has managed to funnel Israel's yearly aid into a CASH deposit in that country's treasury.This happens at the first of each year.Now that "CASH"has to be borrowed,which means US Taxpayer pays interest on that money.Israel on the other hand takes that cash and invests it,and COLLECTS interest.
