Merrill -- interesting idea, but even a actor has to eat.

The Guiding Light was my mother's favorite "story." She and her friends could tell you everything, but everything, that ever went on in "sleepy" Springfield, even going back to the radio show they grew up with.

These days, who watches anything when it's actually "on"? What if people are Tivo-ing the show? Would that show up in the ratings?

I watched it in the fifties after school my mom had it on when the organ was the only music that played. It was addictive to a little elementary school. After that I would go and play with my friends until I got called to dinner. Ah I remember it and the Egg and I at lunch time.

I watched the Guiding Light 20-25 years ago and I remember it was such a popular show that in college, people would cut classes at 3pm to watch the show. It was played in the union and it was standing room only

I remember as a little girl, preschool, my grandmother was a faithful watcher of The Guiding Light. It was then a 15 minute soap, and the sets were black, with maybe a table and a lamp. She loved it, and I was hooked, but I don't remember another thing about it.

My parents met on the set of the Guiding Light in 1951 -- Mom was the make up artist and Dad was a camera man. Charita Bauer (one of the orginal actresses) was my sister's godmother.
The Guiding Light was -- and will always be -- a very important part of our family history!
We will miss it!

I used to watch it with my grandma, then when I became an actor in the city, I KNEW people who were major charaters on the show. It's really been a part of my life, somewhere in the background - I feel like a piece of my childhood is going away...sad..

I am not a soap opera fan, but why not continue it on the internet with advertisements?
