Last week there seemed to be a big focus because the police were undercover and then they didn't identify themselves as police and just started firing?

Katie,

I would think that an undercover cop would have to identify him/herself when they are arresting someone...otherwise how does the person know they are a cop and not some random person pointing a gun at them or possibly threatening them in some way? Maybe I'm not understanding your question...

There is no jury.

the defendants gave up their right to a jury trial because they wouldn't have received a fair trial because of the publicity.

so a judge will decide guilt or innocence

Is there any estimate on when this trial be conclude and jury deliberations begin? Three weeks? a month?

Is it normal for an undercover officer to identify themself when they arrest someone?

I didn't understand the importance of that distinction last week. I appreciate anyone's help to clarify.
