I was laid of from one of the Major financial services corporations last month. I work in Systems Administration, and the market, even for highly skilled workers, is just abysmal at the moment. There are jobs, but they are paying much less than I made in the year 2000. Year over year I was already subject to a net decrease in pat due to inflation; now this will be compounded by actually being paid less in real dollars.

I work as an editor for a small Manhattan-based research firm. We produce political and technical analysis of oil-rich countries in the Middle East and North Africa and sell those reports to international oil companies. Needless to say, business is booming.

Bernenke [sp+]? But Bush says there is no recession. Hm, did he say that while dancing on the White House terrace the other day? Isn't it rumored that Nero danced and played the lyre while Rome burned?
