Would Craigs List consider listing green markets/farmers markets locations, dates and hours? We need a place to find out where to go for good, fresh, local food stuff. Can't buy this stuff on-line. It would be a useful addition during the warm months.
i use craigslist too but i am so ticked off by the private companies that are posting on it. it takes so much time to filter thru the damn postings.
in the past 5 years on craigslist i have found:
7 apartments
3 roommates
4 jobs
2 couches, a bed, a desk, a kitchen table
2 flying squirrels
1 dog
3 frogs
1 rabbit
1 employee
3 t-shirt models
and that's just a quick listing.
craig, you and your list are part of almost everything i do.
thank you thank you thank you.
why the vigorous blocking of those extremely useful sites that use craigslist in some way to help people?
Like:
http://crgslst.com/ (improves craigslist interface by making it more useful)
and
oodle.com (combines craigslist w other listing sites)
Okay, thanks for addressing my SPAM comment on the air, but Craig evaded the question: Why can't Craigslist require registration for anyone who wants to post?
Why is it desirable to have the site soooo open in an age where others require registration for posting?
What a thrill to hear two of the greatest human treasures we have, Brian Lehrer and Craig Newmark, together on my radio! You guys have improved my and countless other lives more than I can say. Thanks!
Thanks to Craigslist, I got my first (current) job after graduation AND my first apartment in the city.
Craigslist is great, but for one thing: SPAM!
The amount of SPAM that has infected Craigslist nowadays makes it frustrating to use at times. Would Craigslist consider forcing users to register to post? I think that would help make the site more useful.
Of course it's not Newmark's fault -- it would just be someone else putting up a free bulletin board if not him -- but Craigslist is blamed as the killer of the newspaper medium (since local newspapers traditionally based their business on local paid ads, which of course his site usurps).
Since he says he cares about journalism, this puts Newmark in an awkward position. What is his direct reply, to those thousands of local reporters toiling quietly, full time, to give those "citizen journalists" the actual information they need to riff off of on their blogs?
Here we go,
The daily WNYC-Lehrer-guest-of-the-day love affair endorsement of Barack Obama.
It's a site that has changed the internet - and dating world - for the better. But with personal expression comes site abuse. And isn't there a way to prevent multiple postings on your site from the same person under different identities? We're not talking one or two, but maybe 10 or more concurrent postings. Can there not be automated IP checking that would red-flag this sort of thing - which as many a CL dater (of which I am one!) frequently sees.
Craig's ethic is very inspiring. I am very impressed by his philosophy and attempts to live it out.
I am very wary of Craigslist in New York, full of jokers and scammers etc. but the idea is great, and it is still useful.
