Did you look at the contributions Rudy raised from some of the big Iranian developers like the Moinians, Lalezarian, Harounian and more? I see that as a way to now get them to invest in his new JV. And don't forget, Rudy's priest, Alan Placa, lives at the Catholic Church in Great Neck -- just south of Kings Point where many of the Iranian real estate moguls live....

You may have it a bit wrong, at least for the residential real estate issue. Many NYC'ers view foreign residential investment as a huge problem. You have to consider the dollar/euro exchange and the foreign demand for residential city property is driving the market up at an unusual rate in comparison with the rest of the country. Therefore long time residents once again are finding hard to cope with that competition.
So in the end that part of his investment will hurt him with city folk.

Guiliani will create a lot of publicity in yet another bid for higher office and then, unceremoniously (unlike anything else he does), he'll come down with a bad cold and withdraw.

Sorry Wayne Barrett, I guess your hope of never having to write about Rudy Guilianni again has not yet come to fruition. :-/
