Am I the only one wondering if the writer's strike isn't perhaps one of the few really good things happening in America right now?? Anything which turns people's attention away from the mindless drivel which pours out of the pop media-industrial complex is a good thing. American's are fat and uninformed about things which really matter to them because they spend too much time glued to the boob tube & too little time exercising, learning, preparing healthy meals with their family, socializing with friends, neighbors (maybe even having quality sex with their significant other) etc etc. Americans need to stop watching others live & do some living. I pray the strike lasts 14 years!!!

brian, no need to be so derisive of soaps...the quality of soaps vary for sure but some deal with current issues such as hiv, sexual orientation, sexual violence, etc. they certainly can be melodramatic but that isnt neccesarily of inferior value to some of the sci fi fantastical shows on primetime

RC is right. it seems that the issues for the wga may not apply in the same way to soap operas. they dont issue dvds and as far as i know, the programs arent available on the internet...
