I am from Chicago (and originally from east coast)-but have lived in Indiana for 3 years- Obama has managed to get support from downstate Illinois voters consistently-they are much closer to the so called southern vote than you might think-tend to be rural, conservative (even when democrats) and independent- I also can tell you Indiana and other states that are supposedly "red" are fed up with the Iraq war (which McCain continues to support) and they are hurting from high gas prices -they will vote for any Democrat who seems sensible and Obama is that Democrat. You are also callling Hillary Clinton "strong" but she has a great weakness- many men hate her and Bill Clinton is a huge problem for women- he lied and we forgave him but we won't keep forgiving him as he attacks Obama

What would happen if every last dollar was used to pay down personal and business debt?

Are there more sophisticated ways to stimulate the economy than encouraging consumer spending?
