From WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show and the WNYC Newsroom, comprehensive coverage and analysis of the November 2006 shooting of Sean Bell and subsequent trial; including community reaction, commentary and an exclusive interview with NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
Nicole Bode, staff writer for the New York Daily News, talks about the petition to change the location of the trial for the police involved with the Sean Bell case.
I don't know the legal standard, but my gut feeling is that the trial should be moved to another venue. There is no way a jury could be fair with all the media coverage and rallies that were held related to this matter. I love the BLS, but linking 'Sean Bell Coverage' adds to the argument that a NYC jury might be tainted by excessive coverage, and that is injurious to the accused. Not to diminish the seriousness of the incident, but it has confounded me for a long time now that of all the newsworthy topics in this city and the world, the Sean Bell case would get its own link on this webpage. I wouldn't be surprised if a copy of this page is attached as an Exhibit in the legal brief in support of the motion to change venue.

an insult to injury.
"a fair trial" does not mean you will be acquitted.
