My husband is loosing his job in a few weeks. I am currently covered under his employer plan. He has been eligible for Medicare plan with his employer and will continue with that coverage without the employer plan. I would like to know if I would be covered by COBRA, until I am eligible for Medicare in a few more years, if my husband does not use COBRA.

The Dept. of Labor went to bat for me due to a COBRA snafu by my former employer and got them to subsidize the first six months of my COBRA payments. It literally saved me and they cut through the beaurocracy in about 48 hours. Thank you DOL!!

I've been on COBRA for almost 36 months now as I am a diabetic and had to have some kind of coverage after I graduated college. Because the plan I was on was through my father's university, I got 36 months rather than the 18 months. But it costs me $ 430.00 a month. But I have to have it.
