Check out Antarctica...small film with huge soul. The film explores the notion that everyone comes into our lives for not only a season, but for a reason.

Following are the films I’ve seen recently...
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE – Best film I’ve seen in a long time. Not just a movie but an EXPERIENCE. It defies typical classification, as it deftly weaves together fantasy, drama, humor, adventure, past & present in a seamless way. British production filmed in India. I have pressed myself harder than usual to define it's strong appeal and the best I can come up with is that it reminded me of the powerful impact one feels when viewing a good film in your early youth. In effect, it had the power and magic of reclaiming your viewing innocence for two hours, a bargain at $10!
AUSTRALIA (Kidman & Jackman) A Wonderful multi dimensional tale that’s magical at times. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman are well cast & the Aboriginal cast performances (especially the little boy) rival their famous counterparts because of their honesty, charm and heart. A real adventure story well told, interesting photography as well.
DOUBT (Streep & PS Hoffman) Full strength acting, that draws in the viewer as a fly on the wall, not just observing the drama and tension, but participating by examining the truth of your own interior.
REVOLUTIONARY ROAD (Winslet & DiCaprio) Well crafted & acted 1950s period film seems timeless & contemporary as we grapple with or assess where we personally stand in relation to the status quo. What conditions makes a soul sing and what vanquishes it? Not an upper, but thought provoking.

The Wrestler: Weirdly good. Defiance: Daniel Craig fights with the Nazi's and other Jewish fighters during WW2. good. Happy-Go-Lucky: I disliked most of it except one performer,,,the cab driver. Last Chance Harvey: Not so hot. Oldsters fall in love. Rachel Getting Married: Irritating wedding with troubled sister who will drive you nuts.

Every Christmas vacation my girls and I find a day to go to a Christmas movie (light romantic comedy type) and then dinner. Two years ago we saw The Holiday (Winslet & Diaz) and last year we saw PS I Love you with Hillary Swank. So far, I have not noticed a comparable fun type movie for this year -- any suggestions? (the girls are now 20 & 16) Thanks

Four Christmases seemed like FOUR YEARS! Predictable and unfunny. First time ever all four of us agreed on a movie. All Thumbs Down.

See "The Family Man" with Nicholas Cage, old but good movie and my favorite Christmas movie is "Christmas in Connecticut" with Barbara Stanwyck from the 1940s. That is my favorite Christmas movie.
Barbara's character is supposed to marry an uptight business man, it is a delightful Holiday romance for those who are romantics like I am, everytime they attempt the wedding ceremony, they get interrupted and then a man perfect for Barbara shows up.
Who will she choose? Watch it and find out.
Also recommend for New Year's "My Fair Lady" with Audrey Hepburn.
