How can it be? Atlantic yards merited several shows. Columbia's Harlem rezonining 2? Rezonining of 124-126th Street, river to river, haven't been covered at all, notwithstanding vast community opposition and dismay with our sell-out local leaders. As Ive observed previously, racism so prevades our nation and city that too often blacks participate in our own demise. All Ms. Eisenberg says is true. But it's only in connecting the whole of Uptown's transformation that one understands the extent of this massive act of social engineering

Columbia University did buy what it wanted through its lobbying. The City Planning Commission and City Council approved Columbia's proposed rezoning proposal for Manhattanville despite overwhelming community opposition. The proposed plan would bulldoze 17 acres of West Harlem and build biosafety level 3 laboratories in a floodplain in a seismically active area. The City Council was so well-greased that it approved the plan without a single modification and virtually no discussion. Applications for sidewalk cafes get greater scrutiny.
