Clinton's yes vote on Kyl-Lieberman outraged the anti-war base of the Democratic Party, where she remains vulnerable for her continued refusal to apologize for her Iraq vote in 2002.

In the wake of this furor, Clinton rushed to make herself the first and only co-sponsor of a 6-month-old bill by Jim Webb, requiring Bush to seek Congressional authorization for any military action against Iran.

After being silent on Webb's bill for 6 months, Clinton suddenly was in such a hurry to co-sponsor it that she didn't even bother to give Webb a heads-up until after she had done it.

In this week's Newsweek, Howard Fineman sees in this timing -- Clinton's thumbing her nose at her anti-war flank, then moving immediately to appease the same group by supporting it on a bill that, for 6 months, she's shown no interest in -- as just the latest example of opportunistic triangulation, Clinton-style.

Ditto that, Robert.

Lately, it seems Brian L. has either

1) lost confidence in listeners' abilities to ask good, insightful questions on topics that really matter (e.g. politics rather than feel good or 'are you being gouged'-type topics); or

2) he just enjoys the sound of his own voice--not taking calls or bringing up questions posted on this site. Just as Fox News' "fair and balanced" label is laughable--so is Brian Lehrer Show's "call-in show" label.

Obama statement on Kyl-Lieberman, from Obama press secretary Bill Burton:

"...he would have opposed the Kyl-Lieberman amendment had he been able to vote today."

This was issued on 26 September, the day of the vote.

I missed the first minutes of this segment, but I would like to ask your guest how the other candidates can get equal time during public debates/forums and why Gravel and Kucinich were excluded (not invited) to the Tom Harken event last month in Iowa?

Does she think such exclusionary practices are in the best interest of the Democratic Party?
