It's Amazing how one-sided and prejudiced your conversation on the Transit union is.
You are not really talking about the facts. It is illegal for these people to go on strike to defend and fight for a fair wage. YET it's NOT illegal for the MTA political appointees who make hundreds of thousands of dollars to use a $200M surplus right before the contract negotiations were due and spend it on this holiday discount program that was just a publicity gimmick that did not benefit the average New York straphangers and taxpayers.
ALSO - going back to the prior contract negotiations in 2002 the MTA spends MILLIONS on a campaign blitz touting the great improvements made the MTA with Pataki's voice in the middle of Pataki's reelection campaign. A month after the reelection the MTA announced that it had a budget deficit - JUST in time when the contract with the union workers was expiring. Later we found out that the MTA was maintaining 2 sets of books.
We treat average workers fighting for an extra $100 in wages a month but we look the other way to the corruption and mismanagement of the MTA - Brian Lehrer and Liz Benjamin should be ashamed of your bias comments
