Mr. Carlin was a great champion of free speech and free thought. Where will we find such a man again? There was only one George Carlin, and I'm thankful he existed in my lifetime.

He was a vital part of my childhood...hosting Saturday Night Live, his HBO specials, etc. I can only laugh, cry, laugh again and be thankful that he was with us. A giant in the world of stand-up and consummate wordsmith. Jumbo shrimp, military intelligence and parking in a driveway! Thank you Uncle George.

He always cracked me up until I went to see him at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. He just ranted, there was no comedy- it was unlike everything else I heard him do. Was he trying out new material that had no laughs? His game show contestant who has twins whose ages are 6 and 9 will always make me howl.

in a word, s*!t..this world has lost another great man. being dyslexic and having speech problems as a young child, i used to practice his monologues at home in my room the same as i would practice musical scales for my horn lessons right on down to the annunciation of individual words, to help myself learn how to speak better. And to this day, unless i tell people i'm dyslexic, they cannot tell, atleast by way of my speech. So yes, DO try George[orgeorge..] Carlin at home.

He was effing brilliant! This thread should allow free language, all language, let us not be afraid of bodily functions - no censorship.
George is dead. Long live George Carlin!

Carlin made us laugh and THINK at the same time. "Jumbo Shrimp?" anyone?
The world was a better place because he was with us.

WBAI ran Carlin's 7 words -- and that led to the Cupreme Court case. Was that when Ed Goodman (as pres. of WBAI) went to jail? If yes, perhaps someone from WNYC (Brian or Lenny) should talk to Goodman.
