I would likewise demand an answer to this whole Melville House sticker contretemps -- easily the worst calamity to happen to the city since Stonewall. I realize that Clarice's comment would, on the surface, have little to do with Mr. Kenan's appearance and that the stickers in question pertain to another Melville House author. But some matters are never too pedantic to investigate -- particularly those involving stickers on turnstiles. If there is not a serious investigation, perhaps there might be a dissertation -- or at least a lengthy harangue delivered personally on The Brian Lehrer Show -- ideally, in installments.

Can you tell me why Melville House Publishers, Kenan's publisher, is illegally putting stickers advertising their books on the turnstiles at the 14th Street-Union Square station?

I was very much looking forward to this discussion. I am a huge fan of the Brian Lehrer Show, and I am nearly obsessed with James Baldwin. Unfortunately, I found this segment to be an almost complete waste of time. Never have I heard such a lack of content on wnyc. James Baldwin was only mentioned in slight passing, and the questions asked by your guest host were trite at best. What a disappointment!
