One of the speakers mentioned consolidating private loans into the federal direct program. This quote is from the Fed Dir website.
"Most federal education loans are eligible for consolidation, including subsidized and unsubsidized Direct and FFEL Stafford Loans, SLS, Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Nursing Loans, and Health Education Assistance Loans. Private education loans are not eligible. PLUS Loan borrowers (parent borrowers) also can consolidate their loans."
Please advise how private loans can be consolidated.
In addition there is a difference in the amount and variety of deferments available on government loans and private loans. Private loans don't have true deferment, only forbearance.
Lastly, can private loans be included in Bankruptcy as they are not federally guaranteed?

Thank you.
