i also do not believe that pit bulls are illegal in this man's county. if a stray pit bull was found and collected by a pound, it might be put to sleep, but that does not make it illegal.

I have a suggestion for reducing the violence in NFL football. Have the players play the game on foot-thick padding with the consistency of mattresses. That will slow the players down and definitely reduce the frequency of serious injuries.

It's just so ironic (and sad) that Mr. Zirin was willing to give Mr. Vick the benefit of the doubt, but seemed be endorsing the ludicrous notion that any breed of dog could be inherently evil. He should study up on what is necessary to turn these dogs into fighters--starvation, sleep deprivation, isolation, goading, mutilation, terror. Few ever become successful fighters, and most end up abandonned to the dogcatcher (or worse).

What makes Vick's case different is that the dog fighting equipment and dead dogs were found on his property. Further inspection of the property has been halted. How does that compare to the Duke Univ. case where the crime scene was sealed? Someone on the Falcon's commented that Vick was just a "country boy" doing his thing. There's a lot more to this story and I just wonder how money will determine the outcome.

Two comments #1 Please stop perpetuating the false information that pit bulls are inherently dangerous. It is exactly the kind of ignorant reaction of making a dog breed illegal that contributes to the misconception. Citing the law in Maryland does not offer evidence to support the idea, but instead highlights the overreaction.
#2 Clemens and Johnson may be surly white guys, but have they started fist fights in their own dug out? Bonds has a bad reputation among his own team mates, not just the fans. That's hardly a race issue!

Your guest is wrong about Pit Bull dogs. They are not inherently dangerous or aggressive animals. They have to be taught to be fighters.

Um, Michael Vick having a dog-fighting arena on his property is not similar to Bryant being accused with rape. Did Bryant have raping events staged on his property that he claimed to not know about? Vick is obviously not 100% innocent. Even in the unlikely event that he knew absolutely nothing about the dog fights, he should still be held responsible for what happened right outside one of his homes.

Curious what Mr. Zirin thought of the recent NBC "Mike'd Up" in-studio Stephon Marbury interview debacle where the Knicks point gaurd gave an incoherent diatribe (including his reference to his wife as his "better ho"). Marbury seemed to be blatantly intoxicated as noted by dozens of YouTubers who have left comments to that effect. However, depsite it's notoriety on YouTube, there has been virtually no coverage of this interview by the main stream sports media. Is this an example of the media protecting an athlete as was more common years ago here in New York? (ex: under-reported stories re: inappropriate behaviors/alcohol abuse by Yankee heros)
