I was listening the Brian Lehrer show few minutes ago at about 10.45 and I want to make a comment about double standards and the thick hypocrisy that permeates the public debate also in this show:
I was very glad to hear the bad politics in Albany compared openly to the politics of third world countries or Italy. I am a native Italian and I am glad that the tribal political scene of Italy is chastized, eventhough I feel a bit embarased. At the same time if anyone was to make a remark about the marital status of the young women who left a two years old child in charge of the infant in the bath tub, or worst made a remark about the race about this young mother (race and marital status being very predictable) then that person would be crucifixed for being open about a real problem.

So it is ok to critize and chastize a foreign country (I reaqlly mean Italy Government is a shame to its citizens )yet it is a big taboo to have any public discourse over the scourge of tenage pregnancies among single 'ethinc' american girls ...where ethinc stands for a culture predominant in some groups that can be racially defined (God forbids me to be more explicit !)
will be interesting to see if anyone has any comment on my borderline potilically correct statement
guido (it is my real name!)
