The search for a common ancestor to all life forms—or “concestor”—is the idea animating Richard Dawkins’ latest book. The Oxford biologist took Chaucer as his inspiration and gave chapters titles like “the Cauliflower’s Tale” and “the Rhizobium’s Tale”.
