Jazz in the Dixieland and Chicago traditions

Ralph Burton hosting the America in Swingtime program of the 2nd Annual American Music Festival. Introduces Hot Jazz. Marty Marsala on trumpet standing in for his borther Joe who is supposed to lead the band but apparently got lost getting to WNYC. Benny (Red) Galssman on alto sax doubling on clarinet. Johnny Smith on tenor sax. Dave Bowman on piano. Gene Traxler on bass. Shelly Manny on drums. They play "Muscrat Ramble." Joe Marsala arrives - explaining he went to get another bass and got stuck on the Brooklyn Bridge. They play " Lower Register, a blues"
