I was born in Brooklyn and I'm 15-years-old. I want to graduate and be a nurse. I am interested in anything that's fun. Now I live in a quiet neighborhood but I was raised in a place where there are drug deals, gang bangers and a lot of other stuff. I like to have fun and just be myself.

Recorder: Linda
My recorder is Linda and she is hyperactive, likes to listen and is fun. She would dress in a nice skirt, pretty top and a hat. (Linda means pretty in Spanish, which I speak.)

(Note: Each Rookie named his/her equipment as a way to feel more at ease with the technology.)

Story Description: "My Mother vs. The Streets"
If her strict, Panamanian mother would allow it, Jacuyra would hang out all the time on Franklin Avenue in her Brooklyn neighborhood--because that's where all the boys are. In the past, hanging out with boys has gotten Jacuyra into trouble. But as a 16-year-old who doesn't often think about the consequences of her actions, Jacuyra would love nothing more than to head back out to "The Ave", if only her mother would let her.
