The Bronx Radio Rookies stories will broadcast in October 2009 during Morning Edition on WNYC. The stories will be also available for download here. To produce these stories, Radio Rookies partnered with the Next Generation Center, a fantastic multi-service youth drop-in center run by the Children's Aid Society. The Bronx Rookies worked really hard these past several months to tell their stories about poverty in the Bronx, the standards in public schools, the effects of Chernobyl, incarcerated parents, and a rare debilitating disease.

About The Neighborhood

The Next Generation Center neighbors several other community service organizations on Southern Blvd., a street that runs beneath the elevated train tracks of the 2 and 5 subway lines in East Crotona Park. The neighborhood was recently profiled by the New York Times, and lies a few subway stops south of the Bronx Zoo.
