My name is Christy and I'm 15 years old. I'm from NYC and I love it. I have many passions. One of them is music. I love listening to punk, alternative, grunge, etc. My other passion is writing. I mainly write prose. I also like to make short-films with friends. I'm in high school, where I'm taking journalism and film, hence my love for movies and writing. I'm shy and quiet sometimes, but I'm a friendly person, and I always welcome new people into my life. So there you have it, my story compressed into a paragraph.
October 2001

Interesting Fact: In kindergarten, I fed my friend Elmer's glue to see if it was actually non-toxic. Luckily, he never told on me and I didn't get in trouble.

Story Description: Disability
Christy reports on what happened to her family after her dad got hit by a car and became permanently disabled.

Mentor: Christy's mentor is Cynthia Helton. Cindy grew up in Trenton, NJ. She went to Barnard College, where she learned about feminism and how to get rid of roaches. She now works at CBS News Productions. When she's not working, she loves to take pictures, watch the Simpsons and read books. She's really excited to work with and get to know her mentee.
