About the neighborhood :

Exit at the second to last stop on the #4 subway line (going uptown) and you'll find the fascinating neighborhood of Mosholu in the Norwood section of The Bronx. This ethnically diverse neighborhood has attracted a diverse population, including Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, African Americans, Jews and Asians.

In the 1920s and 1930s, many upwardly mobile people, including merchants and manufacturers migrated to the apartment buildings on the Bronx Grand Concourse and to the one- and two-family homes of Norwood. Famous fashion designer Calvin Klein and actress/director Penny Marshall were both raised in the Mosholu Parkway area.

Norwood is now home to an eclectic mix of environmentalists, artists and activists. It is an urban community, but surrounded by many green spaces such as the Bronx Park, Woodlawn Cemetery, Mosholu Parkway and Van Cortlandt Park.

Francis: It's great because I had a good experience and I think you will have that too. I like the community center, basketball, playground, people and fast-food places.

Vera: I'll always remember it as the neighborhood I hid in when I was cutting a class. When I go outside, I usually see noisy kids playing, the ice-cream truck passing by, everyone enjoying the summer.

Derrick: It's good and beautiful. I love the cars, the trees, the kids and the air. I hate the girls!

Chico: It's a nice neighborhood. There are a lot of things to do (the stores, the park) and there are a lot of young people in this neighborhood!
