I'm Jose Lopez and I'm 14 years old, attending Norman Thomas High School. I live in Brooklyn, NY and work at Make The Road By Walking in a group called CALP (Community Action Learning Project). This is a group of youth that are trying to make our community a better place.

Interesting fact: I'm great and I've studied different forms of Martial Arts, such as Kick-boxing.

My favorite website is: http://www.bet.com

Story Description: My story is about how there are not enough free things for kids in my neighborhood to do after school. I interview my friends and the people I work with at Make The Road By Walking about our efforts to create more youth activities. I also interview the district manager of my neighborhood community board and I walk around my neighborhood to give you a radio tour.

Mentor: Anna Kuchment is a writer for Newsweek International, the overseas Edition of Newsweek. She has worked as a news producer at WKCR FM, Columbia's student-run radio station, when she was at Columbia College and she had an internship at the Voice of America, where she reported, produced and edited her own stories daily.
