(New York, NY – March 14, 2012) – On Monday, March 19 at 7pm, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC and WQXR will present a conversation with several cast and artistic team members of A Streetcar Named Desire, opening on Broadway on April 22.

WQXR’s Terrance McKnight will welcome two-time Golden Globe nominee BLAIR UNDERWOOD in his Broadway debut as “Stanley”; Soul Food star NICOLE ARI PARKER (“Blanche”); Tony Award nominee DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA (“Stella”); The Wire actor WOOD HARRIS (“Mitch”); and director EMILY MANN to discuss re-creating the sultry drama, an enduring portrait of sex, class and secrets set against the backdrop of New Orleans’ gritty French Quarter.

Executive producers STEPHEN BYRD and ALIA JONES will discuss their experiences bringing a fresh interpretation to Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama.  This multi-racial production of A Streetcar Named Desire is a follow-up to Byrd and Jones’ highly successful Broadway production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which starred Terrence Howard, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose and James Earl Jones, and was directed by Debbie Allen.

Tickets are $15, and the evening will be streamed via live video webcast at www.thegreenespace.org.

A Streetcar Named Desire tells the tale of former school teacher and socialite Blanche DuBois as she’s forced to move in with her sister Stella and her brutish husband Stanley – but the fragile Blanche quickly gets a hard life lesson in the steamy underbelly of 1940’s New Orleans.
