SPEED DATING FOR MOM FRIENDS

WNYC’s “The Longest Shortest Time” podcast presents
its first-ever match-making event for NYC moms

Wednesday, October 22 at 7pm

at The Bell House in Brooklyn

(New York, NY—September 8, 2014) – Making new friends can be hard. Making new friends you truly click with can be even harder. Especially when you’re a busy mom.

On Wednesday, October 22 at 7pm, The Longest Shortest Time, WNYC’s podcast on surprising struggles in early parenthood, will host SPEED-DATING FOR MOM FRIENDS, its first match-making event to connect NYC moms.

Just as The Longest Shortest Time provides a safe forum for new parents to share stories and find support, SPEED DATING FOR MOM FRIENDS will offer a judgment-free zone for mothers to meet, mingle and find their future BFFs. The adults-only event, for mothers with children of all ages, will include an hour and a half of speed “dating” followed by a cocktail hour.

Host Hillary Frank launched the The Longest Shortest Time podcast following the birth of her daughter, after she found herself feeling lonely, isolated, and unable to find support from “the experts.” The podcast tells the stories of real-life parents and kids not found in mainstream parenting media. The show ranges in tone from funny (toddler goes naked for a month) to heartbreaking (stillbirth) to confrontational (Hillary confronts midwife legend Ina May Gaskin over feeling betrayed by her books).

New episodes are released every other Wednesday at www.longestshortesttime.com. Frank has been a contributor for This American Life for 15 years.
