The New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation has delayed its plan to close permanently on Friday, in the hopes the state will approve a plan to save it next week. The NYC OTB Board decided to hold off, as the state Senate considers a plan to reorganize the corporation, during a special session on Tuesday.

New York University Shelves Plans for New Tower

Saying the city schools demand a leader with a proven track record, Mayor Bloomberg has sent a letter to the state education commissioner asking that Hearst Magazines chairman Cathie Black be allowed to serve as chancellor. Black needs a waiver from rules requiring her to have educational experience, based on other exceptional qualifications.
