Terence Davies

Terence Davies wrote and directed the 2000 film adaptation of The House of Mirth. His other films include the award-winning Distant Voices, Still Lives (1988), The Long Day Closes (1992), The Neon Bible (1996), and, Of Time and the City (2008), an acclaimed documentary about Davies' relationship to Liverpool. He's written and directed several productions for BBC Radio, including an adaption of Virginia Woolf's The Waves (2007) and a personal memoir called Intensive Care (2010). He's currently developing a screenplay about the poet Emily Dickinson and in late 2010 will begin filming his own adaptation of the Terence Rattigan play "The Deep Blue Sea."

Director Terence Davies and actress Rachel Weisz discuss their new movie, “The Deep Blue Sea.” Rachel Weisz plays the wife of a high-WASP judge, a free spirit trapped in a passionless marriage. The film is an adaptation of British playwright Terence Rattigan's 1952 play, and it opens March 23 at the Paris Theatre and the Angelika Film Center. Terence Davies’ films are also being presented in a retrospective at BAMcinematek through March 27.
