Tuesday, December 20, 2011

You could say violinist Mark O'Connor is a bit of a mountain man. His collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer called Appalachia Waltz and Appalachian Journey kicked off his Sony Classical career and earned him a Grammy, respectively. On his latest release, a holiday homage to, yes, the same mountain range, he invited additional musicians like Renee Fleming, James Taylor, Chris Thile and Alison Krauss to join the party. Mark O’Connor joins us with his band to play some tunes from An Appalachian Christmas live.
