The US Postal Service recently announced that Saturday mail delivery will end in August. But you may not have heard another recent bit of news from the USPS: that the face of legendary singer Johnny Cash will soon grace commemorative Forever stamps.
Cash is certainly not the first musician to be honored with a stamp -- icons like Elvis Presley, Edith Piaf and Miles Davis have all had their moment in postage glory. But, Cash is second musician to be chosen as part of a new "Music Icons" stamp series -- the first being Tejano musician Lydia Mendoza.
We talk with art director Greg Breeding about designing the new stamp, which will be available starting June 6, 2013, and about how stamp designs are chosen. Plus, he tells us why he thinks that artistic stamps will continue to be a part of our postal system.
