Mare Winningham and Elizabeth Marvel talk about their roles in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s new Broadway production of William Inge’s play “Picnic.” It’s an American classic about the line between restraint and desire. A group of women preparing for a picnic meet a handsome young drifter named Hal whose combination of uncouth manners and titillating charm sends the women reeling, especially the beautiful Madge. “Picnic” is playing at the American Airlines Theater.

Elizabeth Marvel plays Brooke Wyeth, a novelist, who returns home to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents,: former members of the Reagan inner-circle. When she tells them she's about to publish a memoir about an explosive chapter in the family's history, family turmoil ensues. "Other Desert Cities" is playing through February 27 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.
