Norman Anthony Small, Jr.

Norman Anthony Small, Jr., Orlando, FL native, has always had a passion for the arts. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Engineering Technology.

Since moving to New York, Norman made his foray in the music industry working with groups Imajin and Blue Magic. He has worked extensively in the theater with the National Black Theatre and Take Wing and Soar Productions, Inc. where he has served in a variety of capacities including Production Stage Manager, Associate Producer, and Sound Designer/Technician.

An AUDELCO Award Nominee and Winner for Best Revival for two consecutive years, Norman was a member of the cast of Gertrude Jeannette’s A Bolt From The Blue, directed by Patricia R. Floyd in 2009 and Steve Carter’s multi-award winning play, Pecong, directed by Arthur French the following year. Norman is also a recipient of an Off-Off Broadway Award (OOBR) for Excellence in Theatre and recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

 

Norman has honed his acting skills through a number of courses, working with Petronia Paley, Trezana Beverley and Shane-Ann Younts, just to name a few. He is also a member of the NYU Graduate Acting Summer Program Class of 2011.

 Acting credits include: Dark Morning and Voter’s Choice (Fusion Gumbo Writer's Workshop), Antony and Cleopatra and Twelfth Night (Take Wing and Soar Productions), and Light In The Cellar (The H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players).

Norman is a graduate of Metropolitan College of New York, where he pursued an MBA in Media Management.

Some of Norman’s favorite events in The Greene Space include Decade 9/11: A City Reimagined, The Morehouse Glee Club 100th Anniversary Concert, Stick Fly, and New Voices in the American Theatre.
