Cellist Mike Block recently completed a tour with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble- a project that aims to “connect the world’s neighborhoods by bringing together artists and audiences around the globe.” Now, Block is bringing a piece of that collaborative effort to Brooklyn, with his own project called GALA NYC: Global Art - Local Audience. We’ll talk with Mike about his efforts to bring together musicians of diverse genres, and we’ll get a preview of this week’s series with a live performance.
