Boston set a goal of eliminating chronic homelessness by the end of 2018. The goal will not be reached. The city has made big progress in housing people who are homeless, but major barriers remain.

An outbreak of fungal infections tied to contaminated medicines killed at least 64 people and sickened about 700 more. Almost five years later, many people are still feeling the effects.

In the past year, four students have died by suicide. The school has responded by asking professors to lighten workloads and is launching new suicide prevention efforts.
