James B. Stewart

James B. Stewart writes the “Common Sense” column in the Business Day section of The New York Times. Trained as a lawyer, Stewart is professor of business journalism at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and is a contributor to The New Yorker. He shared a 1988 Pulitzer Prize for explanatory journalism while reporting for The Wall Street Journal and is the author of numerous books, including Den of Thieves, Tangled Webs: How False Statements are Undermining America and Blind Eye: The Terrifying Story Of A Doctor Who Got Away With Murder. The latter won him an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
