Fountains of Wayne

Fountains of Wayne’s 2003 hit “Stacy’s Mom” brought the band into the national spotlight with cougar-like speed – but the band had been around long before their schoolboy crush went public. The now-teenaged band (they’ve been together for 15 years) is about to release their fifth album, titled “Sky Full of Holes.” They join us to play live in the studio.

Kurt's musical guests sing about love and relationships, but also about backyard pools, traffic jams and salesmen getting sloshed. From their latest album, Welcome Interstate Managers, Fountains of Wayne performs "Hackensack."

The band performs "Utopia Parkway," the title track off their second album. And Kurt asks them how they came to write songs about the suburbs.
