The New York City Council announced a package of legislation on Tuesday that seeks to improve the city’s infrastructure in the aftermath of Sandy, as well as better prepare the city for future storms.

Twelve students at The Cooper Union continue to barricade themselves in a studio room in the school’s Foundation Building with three demands of their administration, including the resignation of the school’s president, Jamshed Bharucha, and that the school remain tuition free.

Several city officials were on hand to help break ground for the last section of the High Line on Thursday.
