Singer-songwriter Bob Geldof has led a storied career. He fronted the Irish band The Boomtown Rats, pursued a solo career, starred in the film version of Pink Floyd’s The Wall and spearheaded anti-poverty efforts in Africa with the supergroup Band Aid. Geldof, the keynote speaker at this year’s South by Southwest music festival, joins us to talk about a new album with possibly the cheekiest title of 2011: How To Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell.
