Trixie Whitley On Mountain Stage

Friday, March 22, 2013

Trixie Whitley makes her first appearance as a solo artist on Mountain Stage, recorded live at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, W.Va. Whitley first appeared on the show in 2010 as a member of Black Dub, a group of musicians built around legendary producer Daniel Lanois, with her voice as the focal point.

Born in Belgium, Whitley split her early years between Europe and New York City, and was already touring with world-renowned dance and theater companies when she was barely a teenager. She came to the attention of Lanois while he was working with her father, the late Chris Whitley. She recorded her second EP, The Engine, during the Black Dub sessions and released a live collection recorded at the Rockwood Music Hall in 2011. Here, she plays songs from her new album, Fourth Corner.
